Leicester Tigers’ flanker Julian Salvi believes they can end Clermonts’ incredible home record when they meet the French side in the Heineken Cup this weekend. Clermont has won their last 74 matches at home in all competitions, but the Tigers’ are 6/1 with bet365 to beat them and can be backed at 33/1 to win the Heineken Cup outright. An important 22-16 triumph over Northampton cemented the Tigers’ position in the Aviva Premiership play-off places and Salvi believes they are peaking at just the right time. He said: “They have to be beaten eventually and we’ll be going there on the back of a good performance to try and make sure we upset their record. If we can upset their ball and make sure that they get slow ball at the breakdown, hopefully that will give us a good platform.”
